About John Carson
PROVEN LEADERSHIP FOR DOUGLAS COUNTY
John Carson is a long-time Coloradan who has lived in Highlands Ranch with his wife, Eileen, for 24 years, where they raised their three children. A graduate of Green Mountain High School in Lakewood and the University of Colorado Boulder, he holds both a B.A. and a law degree and has practiced as a licensed Colorado attorney for 38 years.
John served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and spent a decade in Washington, D.C., working as counsel to Colorado's U.S. Senator Wayne Allard and on the Senate Banking and House Budget Committees.
He has a long record of public service, including six years on the University of Colorado Board of Regents and serving as President of the Douglas County Board of Education, where he was named the Denver Post's Education Thinker of the Year in 2012. He is also a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch.
Since January 2025, John has represented his community as a Colorado State Senator, earning recognition including the Common Sense in the Courtroom Award, MADD Legislative Champion Award, and the Legislative Excellence Award from the Independent Community Bankers of Colorado. During the legislative session John maintained a perfect attendance record, because it is not just about showing up, it is about doing the job you are elected to do, everyday.
